The Lean Manufacturing Manager will maximize Lean principles and ensure a continuous improvement philosophy is applied to all operational, production and engineering practices. The successful candidate is accountable for employee relations, training, implementing improvement plans for production, and tracking risks and improvements within the facility. In addition, this role will drive and implement Lean manufacturing transformation.

 

 

The Lean Manufacturing Manager is responsible for:

  • Identifying process improvements and implements LEAN manufacturing concepts and initiatives
  • Maintain & improve manufacturing processes, implement process optimization initiatives, improve    process control & stability.
  • Meeting compliance standards for the procedures, specifications, and GMP.
  • Manage production in an effective way to ensure that production goals are met: Minimize waste, Maximize output, Increase Machine Efficiencies/Uptime/Productivity, at High Quality standards.
  • Maintain compliance regarding quality guidelines, safety regulations, and company safety policies and procedures.
  • Enforcing hygiene and GMP standards and at the same time create a satisfying and fulfilling work environment.
  • Provides engineering support, advice and counsel to Maintenance, Production and R&D employees to maintain equipment and facility operations
  • Develops standard operational procedures and assures that proper training is provided for employees
  • Evaluates and motivates employees regarding performance and attendance, through employee "engagement & involvement".
  • Providing training of production employees in cooperation with the VP of Operations and Quality Manager to enhance the employees' spectrum of capabilities and support their performance (compliant with federal and state laws, as well as company policies in relation to staff employment).
  • Preparation and presentation of improvement plans for Lean manufacturing.
  • Conducts research of new equipment and manufacturing processes to maintain and improve the company's competitive position
  • Optimization of equipment to provide desired balance of cost, throughput, and variability/flexibility.
  • Provides overall project management of Lean manufacturing initiatives to ensure on-time completion within budget

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree with experience in production, engineering or operations management. (Lean manufacturing experience preferred) or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 5-10 years manufacturing/process engineering experience (food/beverage industry is a plus)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience implementing LEAN initiatives
  • Computer proficiency: design software, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Certifications in LEAN, 6 Sigma, etc. highly preferred
  • Troubleshoot all manufacturing issues while driving towards issue resolution
  • Outstanding leadership and management capabilities to build, motivate and manage a strong organization
  • Effectively manage multiple competing priorities to delivery results in a timely manner
  • Hands on management style
  • Entrepreneurial spirit
