Southern Bank is searching for a Mortgage Loan Processor to obtain and validate loan information supplied by the loan officer to meet product and investor guidelines.  This position must maintain production according to established standards, provide excellent customer service, and maintain knowledge of all facets of mortgage technology and compliance. Recognizes and resolves challenges early in the process, and provides excellent customer service.


specific job functions (Duties/Responsibilities):

  • Successfully manage assigned processing pipeline within timeline expectations.
  • Effectively manage processing pipeline (to include but not limited to; Pipeline, Originating, Checking files in)
  • Verify the validity of the loan product information with the Loan Officers/Originators.
  • Complete the CustomerOneWon checklist for applicable underwriting tasks.
  • Run through the applicable automated underwriting system for an underwriting decision.
  • Check to ensure the appropriate fees are listed on the disclosures and re-disclose when warranted.
  • Reach out to loan officers and/or borrowers regarding outstanding conditions within 24 hours of file receipt.
  • Collaborate with Loan Officers at a minimum once per calendar week regarding, the status of the loan, any guideline issues and scenarios to ensure compliance integrity.
  • Create methods to follow up and maintain loan volume and meet loan flow deadlines. (Ex: sales contract and rate expiration dates, etc.)
  • Assist Loan Officers and underwriters with eligible and ineligible files that requires communication and follow up with customers and realtors.
  • Assist loan officer with pipeline management. (Ex:  close for incompleteness, approved applicant rejects, etc.)
  • Ensure all file tracking systems are updated accordingly.
  • Correspond with third party vendors to obtain required documentation.
  • Escalate any problems/issues to direct supervisor.
  • Respond to emails and return phone calls within 6 business hours.
  • Sending files to underwriting with conditions fulfilled and with accuracy




knowledge/skills/Abilities required:

  • Proficient in Conventional, VA and USDA Loan Products.
  • Possess superior knowledge for all mortgage and lending related compliance laws.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate professionally both orally and in writing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Type 60 WPM.
  • Flexible, team oriented mindset.
  • Multi-task and the ability to work in a deadline driven environment with limited supervision.
  • Effectively communicate and show enthusiasm for Affiliated Mortgage line of products.
  • Excellent Team Player and problem solving skills
  • Legal Real Estate, previous Mortgage Processor or Mortgage Loan Officer experience is a preferred


Education/Experience requirements:

  • 3 Years Mortgage Processor Experience
  • Either possess a NMLS (National Mortgage Licensing System) number of be willing to obtain one.
  • Proficient with Encompass, or other paperless mortgage loan originating system.
