The Director of Human Resources (DHR) is responsible for overseeing the Human Resources Department.  This position provides leadership and strategic direction to address the organization's current and future workforce needs.  The DHR directly supervises the Human Resources Manager.

Key Position Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor's degree with experience leading a Human Resources department. Master's degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of current Federal and State employment laws.
  • Experience leading a team of two or more direct/in-direct reports.
  • Must be able to speak and write competently in English.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Motivational and influential with the ability to partner with the Leadership team.
  • Must be able to maintain positive and professional relationships and interactions with residents, team members, supervisors/managers, and leadership team.
  • Ability to prioritize and simultaneously manage multiple projects.
  • Forward-thinker, innovative, and proactive.
  • Sound judgment and decision making ability.
  • Comfortable with presenting in small and large groups.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint/Publisher).


Key Position Desired Qualifications Include:

  • Prior Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), Healthcare or Non-profit work experience.
  • Prior work experience as a Director of Human Resources.
  • Professional credentials from the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) and/or Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Key Performance Success Indicators Include:

  • Responsible for ensuring that the Human Resources department is adequately staffed to support customer needs.
  • Supports Leadership with department specific Human Resources needs.
  • Serves as the organization's HR subject matter expert by providing Human Resources leadership and guidance.
  • Leads HR Projects, HR Policy & Procedure Development, HR Program Development, and HR Compliance & Audits.
  • Conducts Workforce Analysis (e.g., SWOT).
  • Advisor for Employment Law & Legal Issues (e.g., EEOC), Accommodations Requests/ADA, and Workplace Safety issues (e.g., Workplace Violence, and Substance Abuse).
  • Safety Committee Advisor and Corporate Compliance Liaison.
  • Advisor for Wage Analysis/Pay Reviews/New Position Development.
  • Leads Supervisor/Manager Learning & Development initiatives (e.g., Forest Learn), Supervisor/Manager Career Development and Succession Planning initiatives and Team Member Engagement & Commitment Meetings.
  • Directly manages The Forest Way Recognition Program and the Team Member Suggestion Program.
  • Leads Supervisor/Manager Performance Management initiatives.
  • Advisor for Team Member Relations (i.e., Supervisor/Manager corrective action, performance success plans, and all Suspensions/Terminations).
  • Conducts Exit Interviews for Supervisors/Managers.
  • Develops and ensures adherence to the HR Department budget.
  • Reviews HR policies and programs for effectiveness/relevance, and provides the Leadership team with recommendations to address opportunities in the identified areas.
  • Leads all Employer of Choice initiatives.
