Capital Associated Industries (CAI) is a non-profit employers' association with offices in Raleigh and Greensboro, NC, that serves the greater Research Triangle, Piedmont Triad and 65 central and eastern counties of North Carolina. We help more than 1,300 member companies maximize employee engagement and minimize employer liability through human resources and management advice, training, news, survey data, public policy advocacy and consulting services.

We are seeking a PART-TIME FLEXIBLE (NO GUARANTEE OF REGULAR HOURS) Affirmative Action Data Analyst to work with the Manager, Affirmative Action Services to prepare and deliver affirmative action plans annually by using project management techniques to collect required data and meet deadlines for Association clients.

Must be extremely detail oriented, enjoy working with large volumes of data in spreadsheets, possess strong computer and time management skills. Must demonstrate proficient verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with clients.

This position will be mainly an on-call position to assist in project completion during peak work periods. Hours will vary based on the project workload. Expectations for 5-10 hours/week during non-peak seasons and up to 25 hours/week in peak seasons.  

  • Download company information including employee data containing confidential salary and personnel information, applicant information, hires, promotions, and terminations from various formats and computer programs into CAI's format.
  • Review, analyze and discuss data issues with the clients to determine problem areas, discrepancies, missing information and incompatible data.   Maintain data integrity while correcting inconsistencies to develop complete and accurate reports.
  • Use Excel and Affirmative Action software to analyze and develop various statistical reports to determine problem areas.
  • Prepare and assemble reports into finished product for each client. Provide and present summaries of overall findings.
  • Communicate effectively with clients in exchange of data, resolution of problems, interpretation of results, etc.


  • Professional level communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent organizational skills managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines
  • Intermediate MS Excel skills (v-lookup, pivot tables, filters)
  • MS Word and Outlook skills (mail merge, account maintenance)
  • Intermediate Adobe Acrobat skills.
  • Must be willing to work additional hours during peak periods of heavy volume
  • Good research skills a plus

Preferred Prior Experience: (3-5 years in one of the following areas)

  • Experience with working with large data sets
  • Administrative and/or project management experience
  • Affirmative Action development/knowledge
  • Experience interacting with and managing relationship with clients
  • HR/HRIS Assistant
