Role Summary: 

 

Responsible for the ongoing monitoring of the Bank's loan portfolio quality to ensure alignment with long term credit quality standard goals.   In addition, this position has supervisory and oversight responsibility for the departmental staff of Loan Review Analysts.

 

specific job functions (Duties/Responsibilities):

 

  • Manages the credit risk grading and accrual status of the Bank's loan portfolio to ensure consistency and appropriate risk assessment by making adjustments when needed.
  • Assists Loan Review staff in preparation of written financial statement/tax return analysis for new and existing loan relationships along with presentation of work product to the Loan Review Committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee and direct the daily operations of the department by determining workflow and assignments.
  • Exercise the usual authority of a manager concerning hiring, performance planning, coaching and performance improvement plans and reviews, as well as pay, promotion and termination recommendations.
  • Assesses and monitors the quality of the loan portfolio.
  • Assesses and monitors loan portfolio compliance with both Bank policy and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Assists in developing and implementing loan policy.
  • Assists Loan Review staff in the assessment of Bank loan officers with feedback on reviewed loans and other performance measures.
  • Assists Loan Review staff in their review of impairment analysis used in the preparation of the Allowance for Loan and Lease Losses Model.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Working knowledge of Bank lending processes and loan documentation.

  • Maintain a professional appearance and work area.

 

 

Education/Experience requirements:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in business/ finance/accounting or related field.
  • Ten years or more previous community banking experience preferred in both consumer and commercial lending.
  • Capable user of Southern Bank computer systems and technology, including word-processing, spreadsheets, internet and internal software.
