The NC Chamber is the leading business advocacy organization in North Carolina. We are actively seeking an experienced Data Analytics Manager to collaborate with the Communications department.

POSITION SUMMARY

This person will identify and work on high-impact business and marketing problems and develop viable solutions through data analysis, predictive modeling and advanced analytics techniques. The data analytics manager is responsible for the database content, including developing, honing and updating lists for marketing and messaging to members and prospects. S/he will coordinate with the Marketing Manager and Communications Managers to assess email analytics and mail campaigns to determine effectiveness and adjust lists accordingly. S/he will develop and provide reports for teams across the organization to assist them in activities including but not limited to prospecting, forecasting and improved engagement with members and prospects. This individual will serve in a leadership capacity on matters related to management of the database, including training and coordinating with staff from different departments.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Establishes and executes a strategy to measure member engagement for the top 100 NC Chamber members. Maintains ownership of this report and leads regular meetings to review it with leadership.

* Creates and implements an improved strategy to segment members and nonmembers by industry and issue interest.

* Analyzes existing database offerings to determine recommendations for additional APIs that would improve organizational efficiency and investor engagement and retention across all areas of the business.

* Develops a strategy to launch a member portal and collaborates with the communications team to roll that out to members. Serves as the lead on maintaining the member portal and recommending and process improvements.

* Establishes, trains and directs all staff on database best practices, including creating a best practices/process handbook to create organizational consistency in database activities.

* Serves as the authority on the database internally and as a resource for team members across the organization that work within the platform.

* Maintains a relationship with the database and works to identify opportunities for improvement of our data, including potential APIs or a new database platform if needed.

* Develops a strategy for collecting, verifying, entering and correcting information for members and prospects in the database. Coordinates with the VP of Communications to implement that process across the organization.

* Expands database of potential event attendees, prospects and member interests.

* Decreases undeliverable communications, including returned mail and bounced emails with the support of the Data Maintenance Specialist.

* Analyzes digital data collected by the Chamber through its websites, newsletters, earned media, videos, social media, one-to-one engagement and other means and provides useful reports and counsel to top management to improve communications effectiveness and customer relationship management.

* Creates complex queries using database tools in order to build lists or analyze data in support of all departments of the Chamber.

* Compiles direct marketing (mail, email, phone) lists for Chamber products and services consisting of multiple audiences based on previous purchase history and demographic characteristics. Audience sampling may be required in order to test the effects of different promotional pieces.

* Measures the results of promotion activities.

TRAVEL

* Travel required for meetings or events within NC a few times a year; typically no more than one night at a time.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

* 3+ years of relevant experience managing a database.

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED

* Bachelor's degree and/or 5 years of relevant experience.

 

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION PREFERRED

* Weblink certified.

* Experience managing a database for an association.

* Experience rolling out a members-only section of a database.

* Experience segmenting by NAICS codes.

* Experience working in D&B Hoover's or relevant platform.
